MicroStrategy OLAP Services is an extension of MicroStrategy Intelligence Server that provides MicroStrategy Desktop, Office and Web users with faster and more extensive analytics as part of In-Memory BI.

MicroStrategy OLAP Services 9 brings the power of a completely new version of Intelligent Cubes™, a new metadata object automatically populated by MicroStrategy's multi-pass SQL or MDX engines. Users can analyze the full depth and breadth of their data warehouse with OLAP Services since no limits are set in data scalability, analytical scope or drill-through capability.

Enhanced Intelligent Cube

MicroStrategy 9 OLAP Services provides the enhanced Intelligent Cube, a dynamic in-memory cache that leverages the strength of the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Security Filter, Access Control List, and Personalization Engines, and provides analytical flexibility by leveraging the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Analytical Engine. MicroStrategy Desktop, MicroStrategy Web, and MicroStrategy Office users enjoy greater analytical flexibility at greater speed than ever before, without having to re-execute SQL against the data warehouse.

Complete Drilling Capabilities

Drilling from summary level KPIs on scorecards or other reports to transaction level details is effortless with MicroStrategy. By combining Intelligent Cube technology with the industry's only multi-pass SQL generation, MicroStrategy lets users freely drill beyond their predefined reports to other cube data, or to the complete data warehouse.

Business Attribute Analytics

Along with spontaneous Metric creation, also known as Derived Metrics, users can spontaneously combine elements of an Attribute to create Filters, Custom Groups, Lists and perform Consolidation Calculations. Derived Elements is used to enhance the analysis on Intelligent Cube™ reports and Report Services Documents.

World-Class Analytical Function Library

In MicroStrategy Web for the first time, the Analytical Function Library in MicroStrategy 9 reveals the depth and breadth of the analytic capability of the enhanced OLAP Services module. Over 270 arithmetic and statistical functions, organized in different categories, are available for metric definition.

Deploy Easily to Web or Windows®

MicroStrategy OLAP Services enables fast multi-dimensional analysis that can be easily deployed to a Windows client using MicroStrategy Office or MicroStrategy Desktop, or to MicroStrategy Web users through a zero-footprint Web interface.

Automate Report Request and Source Data from Intelligent Cube

MicroStrategy’s Dynamic Caching automatically checks a report request and automatically sources data from a MicroStrategy Intelligent Cube™ wherever possible. It also automatically allows the report to source data from the warehouse if the data requirements for the report change, or cannot be satisfied by an Intelligent Cube.

Unique Intelligent Cube Insights, from the new Cube Advisor tool

Cube Advisor scans the MicroStrategy metadata, and suggests the optimal set of Intelligent Cubes to service the reports. Where an application has been generating MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager data, Cube Advisor will use that too, and suggest Intelligent Cubes that are optimized for reducing database load, job load, number of requests, or other parameters.
